Why Ultimate Tracker?
Accurate position and rotation data are essential for effective motion capture.
Traditionally, sensor-based systems used for motion capture can be broadly categorized into two main types.
Optical Motion Capture
Multiple cameras track the coordinates of physical markers.

Offers high precision, but requires complex setup and may produce errors if markers are lost or occluded.
IMU-Based Motion Capture
Uses inertial sensors to measure rotational movement.

Lightweight and easy to set up, but limited by issues such as drift, magnetic interference, and inaccurate position estimation.
VIVE Ultimate Tracker was developed to overcome the limitations of these existing technologies.

Technical Features and Advantages
of the Ultimate Tracker
The UT is a hybrid sensor equipped with two cameras and a 3-axis IMU. It uses optical SLAM technology to track position and relies on the IMU to calculate rotation. By combining these two methods, it can simultaneously measure both position and rotation. Unlike systems that rely on computational estimation, the UT delivers high-precision data directly from its onboard sensors.

Unlike traditional optical systems, UT eliminates the need for attaching markers to the body and capturing motion with multiple cameras. This dramatically reduces the time required for setup and calibration, allowing for a fast and efficient shooting environment with minimal equipment preparation.

Since UT determines its position autonomously without the need for external cameras or markers, there's no need for a dedicated studio or shooting space. It works flexibly in a wide range of environments, including confined spaces and outdoors, allowing users to move freely without installation restrictions.

Unlike conventional systems that compensate for limited sensor performance through heavy computation, UT generates both position and rotation data directly from its sensors in real time. This enables fast data processing and exceptional responsiveness, making it ideal for latency-sensitive applications like real-time animation or live broadcasting.

UT combines position data obtained through SLAM technology with rotational data from the IMU, compensating for the weaknesses of each method. It delivers highly responsive and accurate motion capture by merging the precision of optical tracking with the fast responsiveness of IMU technology.
*SLAM stands for Simultaneous Localization and Mapping.
It is a technology where a camera or sensor moves around and at the same time figures out its own location while creating a map of the surrounding environment.*IMU stands for Inertial Measurement Unit.
It is a sensor that combines an accelerometer, gyroscope, and magnetometer. This sensor can measure the movement of a device in real time, including speed, direction, tilt, and rotation.

IMUs tend to suffer from drift over time, but UT continuously corrects this using accurate positional data from its SLAM system. This ensures consistent position and rotation tracking during long recording sessions and significantly improves the reliability of captured motion data.

Why VIVE Business Plus Pro is Required to
Use the Ultimate Tracker
By default, the Ultimate Tracker connects via Bluetooth, allowing up to 5 devices per PC. However, by enabling Wi-Fi mode, this limit can be expanded to up to 22 trackers. VIVE Business Plus Pro is required to activate and manage this extended tracking capability.
Item
Using 6 or more Ultimate Tracker devices
Switching Ultimate Trackers to Wi-Fi Mode
Sharing environment map via HMD
Requirement
Business Plus Pro License required
One license per Ultimate Tracker unit
Latest HMD + BWS (Business Warranty & Services) License required
Licenses are offered in 1-year or 3-year durations and are activated through a code delivered upon completion of the online purchase or application.

Usage Without VIVE Business Plus License
When using the Ultimate Tracker together with an HMD, the VIVE Business Plus license, BWS, and UT License are not required.
When using MoA in Bluetooth mode, only up to 5 Ultimate Trackers can be connected per PC.
Therefore, XRElite or Focus Vision must be used, and in this case, an HMD can be additionally utilized for tracking.
Wearing Guide by Use Case
Ultimate Tracker + HMD (Front-facing)

Can be used for VR content with MoA.
Ultimate Tracker + HMD (Back-facing)

Does not block the field of view and allows easier tracking.
Ultimate Tracker + HMD + Controller

Requires just 3 Ultimate Trackers for easy control in VR.

MoA Body Strap
Optimized for Precision and Comfort
MoA is a motion capture system that uses 6 to 11 sensors attached to the human body. For high-quality data, it is essential that each sensor is securely fixed in the correct position without shifting. To ensure this, we developed the MoA Body Strap, a dedicated wearable designed specifically for our system.
Each strap is optimized for different parts of the body, offering the following benefits.

Secure Fit
The wide-padded waist strap is designed to minimize interference from clothing, enabling more precise tracking.

Customized Straps
Tailored straps for hands and feet, which require the most movement, ensure a stable and shake-free fit.

High Durability
Made from flexible neoprene material, the straps comfortably fit various body types, resist wrinkling or deformation, and provide a firm yet easily detachable grip for lightweight and convenient use.

Easy Maintenance
The neoprene material can be hand-washed in lukewarm water with a neutral detergent. To maintain its shape and functionality over time, air dry in the shade away from direct sunlight.
